Therapeutic Coaching: A Different Kind of Support

If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like you know something needs to change but you’re not quite sure how to get there—you’re definitely not alone. And you’re also not limited to just one kind of support.

That’s where therapeutic coaching comes in.

It’s a bit of a hybrid approach, and honestly, that’s what makes it so powerful. Therapeutic coaching blends the depth and emotional awareness of therapy with the forward momentum and goal-focused structure of coaching. In other words, it doesn’t just help you understand why you feel the way you do—it also helps you figure out what to do next. We use the life wheel as a coaching tool – call it an aide-memoire aka pie chart of your life to see where you would like to focus.

So, what exactly is therapeutic coaching?

Think of it as a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, patterns, and emotions—but without staying stuck in them. We gently look at what’s been holding you back, while also building practical tools, gaining perspective and clarity, and direction for where you want to go.

It’s not about “fixing” you (because you’re not broken). It’s about helping you reconnect with yourself, understand your patterns, and move forward in a way that feels aligned and sustainable.

How is it different from therapy?

This is a really important question—and a common one.

Therapy often focuses more deeply on healing past experiences, working through trauma, and supporting mental health conditions. It can be open-ended and reflective, which is incredibly valuable.

Therapeutic coaching, on the other hand, still acknowledges your past and emotional world—but it places a stronger emphasis on the present and future. It’s more action oriented. Together, we explore what’s coming up for you and translate that insight into meaningful change in your daily life.

You might think of it like this:

  • Therapy: “Let’s understand and heal what’s been.”
  • Therapeutic coaching: “Let’s understand what’s been—and use that insight to create what’s next.”

Who is therapeutic coaching for?

Therapeutic coaching can be especially helpful if:

  • You feel stuck in certain patterns or behaviours
  • You’re going through a life transition (maybe perimenopause or professional career change) or feeling a bit lost
  • We may need space to explore imposter syndrome, conflict and/or burnout.
  • You want to build confidence, clarity, or direction or work through feelings of overwhelm
  • You’re ready for change—but need support to make it happen
  • You’ve done some inner work already and want to take things further

It’s a space that meets you where you are, without judgment, and helps you move forward at a pace that feels right for you with solution focussed and action-oriented outcomes.

What are the benefits?

Clients of mine, often find that therapeutic coaching helps them:

  • To gain a deeper understanding of themselves
  • Break unhelpful patterns, habits and self-limiting beliefs
  • Feel more grounded and emotionally aware
  • Build confidence in their decisions
  • Take practical, aligned steps toward their goals

It’s not just about insight—it’s about becoming unstuck and integration. Real, lasting change that shows up in your everyday life.

Could this be right for you?

If you’re curious about therapeutic coaching, that’s usually a good place to start. So, book in for a free 20-minute intro zoom call with me – details via my contact page. You may start with the Clarity MOT first and then we can take things from there.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need a “perfect” reason. Sometimes, it’s simply about wanting things to feel different—and being open to exploring how that might happen. It’s about taking time to press pause.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to invite you to reach out. We can have a conversation, explore what you’re looking for, and see whether therapeutic coaching feels like the right fit for you.

No pressure, no expectations—just a chance to take that first step.
