Why choose Nic at Clarity?
I am committed to providing a safe, confidential, empathic and supportive environment and relationship where you can explore your feelings and concerns at your own pace and sometimes challenge them, your behaviours, beliefs and values. Counselling provides the opportunity to talk about issues that impact on your life can help bring clarity and together we can realise what your choices and resources are and find solutions to get you back on track.
Each counselling session is unique and specifically caters to your goals. My counselling training was integrative, meaning that I have extensive knowledge of a wide range of different approaches. It may be short-term, focusing on a specific issue or longer-term, looking at more complex issues. There may be times when you are asked to follow up with self-improvement outside of the counselling session to enable the therapeutic process to continue. You’ll be asked to make note of any insights and learning and bring them to the next session for discussion.
Sessions are usually held weekly and last 50 minutes. Together we can explore the issues that you are worrying you, in some cases looking at the past and or dealing with the present
At your first session, we can talk through what you would like to focus on and what has brought you to counselling – see this as an initial consultation. I’ll ask you to complete a form with your personal contact details, medical history details of any counselling that you may have had previously and what you would like to achieve from therapy.
Following this appointment, if you would like to continue with counselling, we can set up weekly 50 minute sessions.
The number of sessions required will vary from person to person. There is no time set to deal with a specific problem and therefore my counselling is not time-limited. All therapy is treated with sensitivity, empathy and in the strictest confidence.
I have diplomas in hypnotherapy and counselling skills (Dip Hip) and in psychotherapeutic counselling (Dip PC) and an advanced professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling (Ad. Prof. Dip. PsyC). I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling Society (MNCS) and Registered member of the British Association of counsellors and psychotherapists (MBACP), adhering to their ethical guidelines for good practice.
I have also attended continuous professional development courses (CPD) on Menopause (International Menopause Society – IMPART Menopause Training), Overcoming Procrastination, Treating OCD, Mindfulness for Anxiety and Depression, Personality and Personality Disorders, Attachment, Childhood Abuse, Trauma, Shame, Narcissism, Chronic pain, Relationships with food, Eating Disorders and working with teenagers and couples. My training included a year‘s placement with Place2Be, a children’s counselling charity, as volunteer play therapist working with 7-11 years olds. I worked with Fegans seeing 9-16 year olds and provided counselling at GP surgeries.
50 minute sessions are priced at £45 for adults (including flexibility around date/time of sessions).
I offer evening as well as day time appointments
I accept payment by bank transfer (24 hours in advance) to confirm attendance.
I appreciate that sometimes things come up last minute that make it difficult to attend a session. If you can give me 48 hours notice that would be appreciated. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full cost of the session. Alternative fees can be negotiated in special circumstances.
I spent many years in corporate HR bringing with me lots of knowledge and experience– facilitating training programmes on how to coach, coaching one to one, mentoring and at times counselling my fellow associates. I’ve walked in your professional shoes too and can truly relate to the questions you’ll be asking yourself right now around “What next?”, specifically if you are experiencing perimenopause or menopause & the challenges ‘at work’ they can bring.
Join me for a free 20 minutes introductory call, so that I can find out a bit more about you and also to see if we are a good fit to work together, to support you with your perimenopause and/or menopause transition.
There are alternatives to meeting up face to face – telephone or video (Zoom) or walk & talk therapy (socially distanced)
