Working With Me

Why choose Nic - counsellor & therapeutic coach at Clarity Kent?

Counselling

I am committed to providing a safe, confidential, empathic and supportive environment and relationship where you can explore your feelings and concerns at your own pace and sometimes challenge them, your behaviours, beliefs and values. Counselling provides the opportunity to talk about issues that impact on your life can help bring clarity and together we can realise what your choices and resources are and find solutions to get you back on track.

Each counselling session is unique and specifically caters to your goals. My counselling training was integrative, meaning that I have extensive knowledge of a wide range of different approaches. It may be short-term, focusing on a specific issue or longer-term, looking at more complex issues. There may be times when you are asked to follow up with self-improvement outside of the counselling session to enable the therapeutic process to continue. You’ll be asked to make note of any insights and learning and bring them to the next session for discussion.

Sessions are usually held weekly and last 50 minutes. Together we can explore the issues that you are worrying you, in some cases looking at the past and or dealing with the present

At your first session, we can talk through what you would like to focus on and what has brought you to counselling – see this as an initial consultation. I’ll ask you to complete a form with your personal contact details, medical history details of any counselling that you may have had previously and what you would like to achieve from therapy.

Following this appointment, if you would like to continue with counselling, we can set up weekly 50 minute sessions.

The number of sessions required will vary from person to person. There is no time set to deal with a specific problem and therefore my counselling is not time-limited. All therapy is treated with sensitivity, empathy and in the strictest confidence.

My qualifications, background and experience

I have diplomas in hypnotherapy and counselling skills (Dip Hip) and in psychotherapeutic counselling (Dip PC) and an advanced professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling (Ad. Prof. Dip. PsyC). I am a trained couples therapist. I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling Society (MNCS) and Registered member of the British Association of counsellors and psychotherapists (MBACP), adhering to their ethical guidelines for good practice.

This programme supports in restoring balance in the body & rebalancing the mind to help manage stress, anxiety, overwhelm & loss of confidence & self-esteem.

I also support midlife women in looking at how past traumas can raise their heads during perimenopause & menopause, leading to thoughts, feelings & emotions that may leave them feeling like they are going crazy.

I also offer ‘couples’ therapy, to work through relationship difficulties & challenges.

I have also completed CPD (continuous professional development) on Menopause (CBT), Overcoming Procrastination, Treating OCD, Mindfulness for Anxiety and Depression, Personality and Personality Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, Shame, Eating Disorders, Relationship/Couples Counselling, Solution Focused Therapy, Attachment; Family & Childhood Trauma & Grief & Loss
